Agostino Familia (“Agostino Family” in Spanish) represents the tight connection between the four Agostino brothers which strengthened their efforts and made their dream of having their own winery in Mendoza come true. Two wines are part of this "family": a red blend of four selected grape varieties: Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Syrah. The harmony between the four grapes that compose this blend result into a wine of noble character and strong expressiveness. A white blend of two non-traditional varieties, Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, completes the Agostino Familia line.

Agostino Espumante is an intense Extra Brut sparkling wine made out of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Chenin grapes, carefully blended to create this superb product. The special combination of grape varieties leads to a very complete sparkling wine of great complexity and, above all else, elegance.

Agostino Espumante

Varietal composition:

30% Chardonnay, 30% Chenin, 40% Pinot Noir.

Origin of the grapes:

Our family vineyard located in Barrancas, Maipú, Mendoza (Mendoza River Highland Zone).

Wine-making process:

Natural fermentation through the Italian “Charmat Lungo” method, greatly resembling the French “Champenoise” method. Once the wine undergoes a secondary fermentation, it is left on its lees for at least 6 months and is periodically stirred, thus achieving a very complex and high quality product. Once bottled, the wine is aged to perfection for 6 more months.

Pairing:

This wine is a perfect match for oysters, scallops and seafood.

Tasting notes:

Very transparent with soft tones of salmon and onion skin, brought on by the Pinot Noir grapes. Delicate bubbles, fine “perlage” and persistent mousse. On the nose there is a predominantly fruity aroma, characteristic of Chardonnay grapes, combines perfectly with notes of toasted bread and a distinctive yeasty aroma, which comes from the time spent on the lees. On the palate, the wine’s freshness and acidity, quintessential characteristics of a good Chenin, blend tastefully with the creaminess of the Pinot Noir grapes.

"Finca Agostino is the story of a dream... the dream of going back to the roots, to the land of our childhood, to the vineyards where we used to walk holding hands with Sebastiano, our winegrower grandfather. He instilled in our souls the love and respect for the vine, the sun, the water, the land of Mendoza. And also, the promise to return …to return to make this dream come true. In the same way one achieves a dream, we have chosen the perfect place with strength, dedication and passion. There, we have built Finca Agostino, just like we had fancied in our dreams, and began this journey towards our desired goal: to make the best Argentine wines. Grandpa, we dedicate this wines to you and to all wine lovers, since "A dream dreamt alone remains merely a dream; only when we dream together can this dream come true"."

Historia Bodega Agostino

Finca Agostino is the story of four brothers: Vincenzo, Rosalía, Sebastian and Miguel Agostino, who lived their childhood in Mendoza before settling with their family in Canada in the sixties. The memory of Mendoza remained in their minds as the land of their childhood; a period of their lives shared with their grandfather Sebastiano, surrounded by the vineyards in which he worked as a “contractor vintner”.

Sebastiano was in love with the land of Mendoza, with its pure waters coming from the Andes range and its always sunny days. He always said “take care of your vines with passion and they will give you the best wine”.

The Agostino brothers promised themselves to come back to Mendoza, with the dream of building a winery that would honor their grandfather and where they could apply his teachings. So in the year 2003 they returned to Mendoza to make their dream come true. It is in Barrancas, Maipú, where a new chapter of their story begins, and where, day by day, they build their legacy: the wines of Finca Agostino.

Bodega Agostino

The winery was built in the heart of our Barrancas estate, surrounded by picturesque gardens and fountains. Inaugurated in 2005, the winery counts on stainless steel tanks with a capacity of 2 million liters and 1 million liters in epoxy-sealed concrete pools, and the latest technology for reception, crushing, pressing, wine-making and bottling. The wine aging in French and American barrels selected by our winemakers is done in a unique cellar: an underground tunnel that joins the winery and the family home.

For the aging of the bottled wines, the winery counts on an underground climate-controlled cellar, with a strict temperature and humidity control.

Bodega Agostino

In Finca Agostino we develop environmentally sustainable work practices to preserve the environment natural conditions so that the ecological balance is not impaired.

Using “no till farming” in 100% of our vineyards, we support the development of the native vegetation cover of the area, which enhances its organic matter and results in a long term soil fertility and production.

We recycle all waste and treat the effluents in our own model plant for agricultural reuse.

We look after the water, efficiently managing this resource and avoiding waste. To that effect, we have our own reservoir with more than 30,000,000 liters of water, and 100% of our farms are watered with a drip irrigation system which enables us to maximize the water use.

Finca Agostino is the first winery in South America to certify both the “International Food Standard” (IFS) from Germany and the “British Retail Consortium’s Global Standard for Food Safety” (BRC) from Great Britain, two of the most strict quality standards in the world. These certifications constitute evidence of our compliance of the legislations on food safety and fulfill our firm goal of achieving excellence in the quality of our wines.

José Pedro Gómez has over 35 years of experience working in different wineries across Argentina and other countries. He has been asked to participate as president and judge in countless national and international wine competitions and tastings. He is a university professor, with experience teaching in Argentina and abroad. Also an investigator and a consultant for the National Institute of Viticulture, where he is a member of the sensorial consultive committee. Above all, he is a winemaker who is passionate for the art of making wines…. a passion that is showcased through the unique quality of each of his creations.

Viñedos Bodega Agostino

The election of the ideal terroir was one of the biggest challenges for the Agostino brothers. They chose the area of Barrancas in Maipú, Mendoza, due to its great potential and unique soil, Mendoza River's bed. They also acquired another estate in the heart of the Uco Valley, one of the most prestigious wine regions in Mendoza, which they called “Serafina” in loving honor to their mother.

Today, the same care that the Agostino brothers learned from their grandfather is taken with each plant all year long. More than 18 vine grower contractors work the land directed by our agricultural engineer. The contract system is still used to work the land in Mendoza, and in very few other places in the world. The vine grower is contracted to take responsibility for a parcel of the vineyard for the entire season. The quality of the grape harvest depends on the vine grower’s work throughout the year and thus he dedicates his life, hard work and passion to the vines. This unique and harmonious way of working the land guarantees that meticulous care is taken with each plant and each grape.

Finca Agostino

Finca Agostino estate is located at 850 meters above sea level in the region of Barrancas, to the south-east of the district of Maipú, Mendoza. Most of the planted surface is conducted using trellis system, but there are also some hectares with pergola system that are over 60 years old. Warm days and cool nights allow our grapes to achieve an optimum ripeness. Scarce rain and strong solar heating grant good sanitation grapes. Barrancas is a very privileged region since it is the river bed: in the old days, Mendoza River used to run where it is our estate. The alluvial stony soils of our estate allow us to get wines of exceptional quality and intense aroma concentration.

Finca Agostino

Finca La Serafina estate is located in La Consulta, a privileged region of the Uco Valley, at 1,100 meters above sea level. The grape quality is granted by its soils with sandy and stony texture, good drainage and poor organic matter. The great temperature difference between day and night (between 68ºF and 77ºF) is another microclimate special feature that grants excellent color wines with intense fresh fruits aromas and tannins allowing barrel aging for a long time.

Finca Agostino offers a personalized experience for those who want to come and visit the winery, with a complete tour that includes the vineyards and all the stages of the wine elaboration process, finishing with different options of wine tastings for each taste.
